Paleontology: Searching for Denali's Dinosaurs Denali National Park & Preserve August 9 - 12, 2012 $324 Alaska Geographic Member Price $360 Non-Member Price

A student on a geology course discovered the very first dinosaur track in Denali in 2005. Since that time, scientists and visitors have found several thousand additional tracks and countless plant fossils. Join National Park Service geologist Denny Capps for an introductory course on Denali paleontology and help search for and catalog new evidence of dinosaurs and plant life. As a citizen scientist on this course, you will take part in the exciting work of conducting research in a remote mountain setting. Activities include an introduction to the basics of Denali geology and learning field techniques for identifying and cataloging fossils. We’ll visit known dinosaur and plant fossil sites and explore outcrops to discover our own new fossils!
