The Alaska Geographic Association is a non-profit organization founded in 1959.  Our mission is to provide educational services and interpretive materials about Alaska’s public lands.  We are seeking an individual to manage the business operations of our branch store in Juneau at the  Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Branch Manager is responsible for managing the retail sales operations of the branch store, for hiring and supervising sales staff and for coordination with the USDA Forest Service. Operations responsibilities include staff supervision, inventory management and financial reporting.  This position maintains effective communications with the Juneau Ranger District staff, the Association’s central office, and the local community.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail sales and business management preferred.
• Ability to supervise and motivate staff, good organizational skills, computer proficiency, project management, and financial planning experience are essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed.
• Knowledge of Alaska’s natural resources and public lands (especially the Juneau area) is helpful. 
• Must be self-motivated, energetic and enthusiastic individual able to work in a fast-paced environment with a variety of people.

Position & Salary
$18 per hour
Raise possible in June upon satisfactory completion of the first half of the season.

Dates/Hours of Employment: 
Part-time February and March; full-time April through first week in October. 
Branch managers typically work 40 hours a week, but a 32-hour week can be accommodated for the right candidate.
