Art Courses

Draw Inspiration from our Wild Places

Our National Parks have inspired us for generations, and many artists have played instrumental roles--directly and indirectly--in the promotion and protection of these public lands.  Come join Alaska Geographic for these explorations into our connections with our wild places.

Art courses with Alaska Geographic are led by some of Alaska’s best artists and writers. These courses help us develop our skills and express our relationships with nature. By day we will explore Alaska’s parks, forests, and refuges and by night immerse ourselves in the solitude of Alaska’s wilderness.

All our 2009 art courses are based from the Murie Science and Learning Center field camp in Denali. The field camp is situated along the Teklanika River and makes an excellent launching point for our Denali explorations. Lodging, food, and in-park transportation are included in the course fee. Optional professional development credit is available for teachers.

Participants in these courses must be capable walkers, in good health, and equipped for sudden changes in weather. Hiking distance and physical fitness levels are described in greater detail on each course page.
