Located in Alaska’s Interior region, Denali’s six million acres are home to North America’s highest mountain, many large glaciers, and a diversity of plants and animals such as caribou, wolves, grizzly bears, moose, and Dall sheep.

Bring your bike and ride the 90-mile Denali Park Road.

Natural Highlights

Mount McKinley is North America’s highest peak at 20,320 feet and can be seen on a clear day from many vantage points in the park.

Widlife viewing is spectacular here and consists of 167 birds, 39 mammals, 10 species of fish, and 1 amphibian.

Historical Highlight

The park was established in 1917 when Charles Sheldon recognized the need to protect this unique region and its wildlife.

Cultural Highlight

Denali is an Athabaskan Indian word meaning “The High One” and is the name the Native people gave to the massive peak that crowns the Alaska Range and the park.
