Land of Constant Change:  Climate Change and the Kenai Peninsula Kenai Fjords National Park July 25-28 $485

Explore the changing face of Kenai Fjords with geologist Dr. Patricia Heiser in a place where the ice age still lingers. Spend two days kayaking near ancient glaciers while exploring climate change issues. In partnership with Kayak Adventures Worldwide.

Accreditation The University of Alaska Anchorage offers two professional development credits (level 500) for an additional $89 fee.
Times and Location Participants meet in downtown Seward (exact location TBD). This course begins at 10:00 am on the first day and ends at 6:00 pm on the last day.
Hiking Distances and Physical Fitness

Field Seminars are active learning experiences. Participants must be capable walkers, in good health, and equipped for sudden changes in weather. This course includes greater than four miles of hiking and/or 1,000 foot elevation gain per day, frequently over rough and steep terrain. This course also includes a water taxi transport and two guided kayaking day trips. No kayaking experience is necessary.
Lodging and Meals Accommodations include two nights in a lodge, and one night in a remote, rustic hostel on the east side of Resurrection Bay. Participants should expect to share a private room with at least one other person while at the lodge. The hostel has comfortable shared living, dining, kitchen and sleeping facilities, and participants provide their own sleeping bags and pillows. All meals are provided.
