Sculpted by Ice: Geology of the Chugach National Forest Chugach National Forest June 14-16, 2009 $260

Discover the carved landscape of the Chugach Mountains and the glaciers that have shaped them. Join glaciologist Dr. Kristine Crossen in Prince William Sound and on Matanuska Glacier, by boat and on foot.
Space Available 8 spaces are available, as of 9:00 am on April 20.
Accreditation The University of Alaska Anchorage offers one professional development credit (level 500) for an additional $69 fee.
Times and Location Participants meet at the Begich, Boggs Visitor Center in Portage Valley at 9:00 am on the first day. Meeting times for the remaining days will be announced at a later date. The course will include travel to Whittier, Matanuska Glacier, and Anchorage.
Hiking Distances and Physical Fitness
Field Seminars are active learning experiences. Participants must be capable walkers, in good health, and equipped for sudden changes in weather. This course includes up to four miles of hiking and/or 1,000 foot elevation gain per day, over uneven terrain. This course also includes boat-based activities, and participants must be able to transfer between land and a charter boat.
Lodging and Meals Lodging is not included with the course. Participants will be asked to carpool for short distances (less than 10 miles) on the first two days. Lunch are provided each day.
