High Country Wildflowers Denali National Park & Preserve June 15 - 17, 2012 $297 Alaska Geographic Member Price $330 Non-Member Price
Surround yourself in the vibrant wildflowers of Denali’s tundra and taiga. With long-time University of Alaska botanist Carolyn Parker, we will move from the boreal forest to the alpine slopes, learning about wildflower adaptations to extreme conditions and the past history of Alaska’s unique flora. We will spend our time in the field learning to identify wildflowers by sight while using a hand lens, field guides, and easily recognizable plant family characteristics. Carolyn Parker has done botany fieldwork throughout Alaska, but got her start in ‘McKinley Park’ as a middle school student. This is designed as an introductory course to Denali’s wildflowers suitable for both beginners and those with some prior wildflower knowledge.
