2008 Teacher Scholarships

The Murie Science and Learning Center is awarding scholarships to teachers for participation in accredited Teacher Trainings and Field Seminars in Denali National Park and Preserve. These hands-on, field-based courses are small group intensives, using Denali as a classroom to expose teachers to science, research, and educational opportunities.

The scholarships cover 75% of the course tuition and range from $208-$384, dependent upon the particular course. In additiona, up to four Alaskan teachers will be selected for 100% scholarships, plus a $200 travel stipend.

The applicant must be a full-time teacher working at an elementary or secondary school within the United States. Teachers may apply for more than one scholarship; however, scholarship preference will be given to reaching the greatest audience. The number of scholarships available per course is limited, and qualified applicants may not receive their first choice.

Application Timeline

The email-only applications must be received by Sunday, February 24, 2008. Awards will be announced by March 3, and recipients will have until March 17 to accept or decline the award and pay the remainder of the course tuition. If individuals would like to attend a program regardless of whether or not a scholarship is awarded, they are encouraged to enroll. A refund will be provided in the event that a scholarship is awarded.
