Cordova to Kennecott Historic American Engineering Recording Project Compiled by Robert Spude and Sandra Faulkner
This brief Historic American Engineering Record project report is the culmination of a summer's work at Kennecott, Alaska, a National Historic Landmark located within Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve.
Much of this historic mining camp remains, but because of the limited duration of the project, the team focused on the recording of the significant mill at Kennecott. It is the best extant example of an early twentieth century copper concentrator. Since the significance of the mill is the information it displays of the mineral benefication process, the record depicts this process rather than the structural componants of the mill. Original design drawings of the mill are at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.
