Join filmmaker John Holod as he travels with his fifth wheel trailer aboard a ferry to Alaska in this 90-minute Adventure Series DVD. See all the gorgeous scenery, the small towns, and join the filmmaker on a helicopter tour, a visit to a bear sanctuary, to remote outposts, and to magnificent calving glaciers.
The ferry becomes part of the adventure as he heads north, stopping at the small towns along the way, and then father north as he passes through the Wrangell Narrows - the single most difficult navigational stretch on the Passage on his way to Petersburg, Alaska's "Little Norway." Sitka was once the Russian capital of Alaska and is one of the most beautiful spots on his route.
In Alaska's state capital of Juneau, Holod explores Mendenhall Glacier by helicopter. Some of the best humpback whale watching is within a short boat ride of town. Incredible glacier calving and towering cliffs can be seen at nearby Tracy Arm. Holod's adventure ends with a tour of historic Skagway and more wilderness adventures in Haines, including a river tour, an air boat ride and panning for gold.
If you're headed to Alaska on the Inside Pasage, Holod's journey will provide a preview and help you plan your own trip. The DVD also includes four boonus videos with over 40 minutes of extra footage, including the National Park Service film Glacier Bay: The Grand Design.
