Hoonah is located on the northwest corner of Chichagof Island along Icy Strait. Although only 20 miles from Glacier Bay and 40 miles from Juneau, a visit to Hoonah is an out-of-the-way experience for adventuresome travelers. The Alaska Marine Highway System connects Hoonah to other Southeast communities and allows visitors vehicular access to the island's network of Forest Service roads.
